welcome to new york

Taylor is so spot on with that song (literally playing loops in my head as I landed on Friday – check it). Why is New York always a good idea? I don’t know, but it didn’t matter to me Friday afternoon as our plane touched down and they announced Welcome to New York.

I’m definitely not going to pretend I know anything about what’s the best thing to do or see in NYC because a) there’s like a gazillion best things to do and b) I really only know the cool, local places my friends take me (and aren’t those the best anyway??)

So, here are a few quick pictures and a few notes. Explore the city on your own too because there’s no way you won’t find something amazing.

Restaurants | Alta Restaurant for dinner, Gemma underneath the Bowery Hotel for brunch (also Blake Lively was spotted here once so…)

Day scene | Mr. Purple, located at the Indigo Hotel – Lower East Side. The VIEWS y’all…

Night scene | Freehold in Brooklyn was legit and casual bar hop, the basement of Hotel Chantelle was a poppy dance dream.

Event of the weekend | Texas Independence Day at Terminal 5 – musicians like Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen and Casey Donahew gave us serious throwback Texas high school vibes.
