As much as I talk/write about my addiction to and love for travel, I do LOVE being back in my hometown. I love visiting old and new spots around town, and love finding new places in the place I have always called home. Lately I’ve been hitting up some downtown parks and fav little eateries in the northern corners of Htown with Connor and we’re always shocked that even though we’ve lived here forever we’re always (re-)discovering new things.
Where to eat on the north side of downtown Houston:
El Big Bad | this Mexican restaurant is truly a favorite of mine, and although I sometimes have a hard time convincing my friends to venture all the way downtown, their margaritas are absolutely WORTH IT. They’ve won a bunch of times for “best margarita” in Houston, and have so many different infused tequila flavors that take your drinking game to a whole other level. The food is dank too, but really I put this on here for their stellar margs.
Hearsay Lounge | this historical hidden gem (it’s not that hidden, actually super easy to find) has tons of great American-style food and cocktails to match. There’s a lengthy, but actually really interesting history of the building that my dad could tell you about, but I can’t remember it all except that maybe it used to be a Foley’s? Don’t quote me on that. The burger here is really awesome, and the mac and cheese is a must-order. They have all kinds of fancy sandwiches and salads and basically you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. It’s also great for a wedding shower/brunch – they have a loft that’s semi-private and overlooks the entire restaurant.
This little outfit is perfect for bopping around (my favorite pastime…). I’m obsessed with these booties because they are comfy and chic and that my friends is the best combination I can think of for a boot. This fringe bag also goes with almost anything and I’m all about the fringe right now.
My dress is from Bella Dahl and is literally the softest fabric EVERRRRR. This olive-green color too is great for fall, but I am so glad it’s sleeveless because it is still a little too warm in Houston to walk around the city wearing chunky knits.
